Featured Material; Cipollino Ondulato

At Rydges Lakeland Resort in picturesque Queenstown, luxury meets design & decor.

Earlier this year SlabCo worked alongside fabricator Granite & Marble Specialists Ltd. (GMS) to install this stunning new reception counter in the Rydge’s foyer.

The hotel sits on the shore of Lake Wakatipu, boasting unmatched views across the water to some of the most stunning scenery in all New Zealand. Just a five minute walk from the centre of this exciting town the resort plays host to tourists, sporting enthusiasts and conference groups.

The featured material, Cipollino Ondulato Verde, was provided by our suppliers Bagnara, Italy. Cipollino marble is a variety with an impressive pedigree. First used in ancient Greece, it was exported to Rome from as early as the 1st century BC onwards and utilised in the design of public temples, private housing as well as in sculpture. A millennium later, this stone still sits at the heart of many inspired designs.

Cipollino Ondulato Verde & Cipollino Rosso. Natural & Vivid.
These two marbles from Italy, due to their veined structure, are particularly suitable for elegant indoor designs. The Verde is lined with viridescent green hues whereas the Rosso features russet, red & maroon highlights.

The undulating waves of colour that define these materials evoke the turning tides & flowing cycles of the natural world.

If you wish to feature either of these exciting stones in an upcoming design, please come by our Auckland or Christchurch stockrooms to view our collection.
