Kitchen Profiles; Super White & Azul Mary

In this month’s feature we’re profiling two elegant kitchen designs both using materials mined from Brazil.

The first is from Merivale in Christchurch, rendered in Super White Classic. We provided the stone through our exclusive supplier; Bagnara, Italy. The fabrication of the benchtop was performed by Marbello and the kitchen cabinetry is by Ferrymead Kitchens. This 20mm material was rendered in a matte honed finish, mitred to 50mm. The design sets the cloudy, white patterns of the dolomite against the warm finished timber to create a cooking space which feels serene and open.

Our second design features a regal slab of Azul Mary. Centre stage is the island bench, behind which is a gorgeous sea view. The  patterns on the three-metre slab of Brazilian quartzite feature sweeping patterns which evoke the tides and sands of the local area. The concept is by Auckland based interior-designer Kirsten Ford with photography by Hanson & Daughters. The fabrication was by Stone and Joinery Solutions, Auckland, and the installation was by Bella Kitchens who offer a complete service for logistical ease and work in close partnership to bring to life the vision of the customers and designers.

Super White Classic. elegant & durable
One of our best selling materials, this white breccia’s pattern from Brazil lends a distinctive touch to every surface. Moreover, due to its cloudy pattern, Super White Classic is particularly suitable for large-area applications, in- and partially outdoors. Dolomite is a metamorphic carbonate transformed by pressure and heat to a full-crystalline rock. Because of its crystalline structure, it is slightly transparent when cut into thin slabs, and has a glossy, elegant quality. The stone is mostly acid-sensitive and particularly suitable for many applications, indoors and partially outdoors.

Azul Mary. regal & natural
Also from Brazil, Azul Mary is a natural choice for a statement piece. Its vivid pattern makes each slab of the blue-beige quartzite form Brazil look like a natural piece of art. Moreover, due to its cloudy pattern, the material is particularly suitable for large-area applications, in – and partially outdoors. Thanks to its acid resistance, the material is well suited kitchen countertops and many other applications.
